I planted Basil today to keep my cherry tomatoes company (oops, that would be 7 year old daughter's cherry tomatoes.....). It was so hot today, but we welcomed rain. After reading "East of the Sun" I am more aware of the welcome change when the heat breaks. Unfortunately, the relief was short lived. Fans tonight.

You will find Basil easy to grow, mine has really taken off since having the big rain fall on it. It is like a big bush and the smell is really strong.
I haven't had much success with growing tomatoes though this year.
Hope you are enjoying the holidays.

It is supposed to be cooler here today, but I am unconvinced so far.
The basil looks lovely.

I envy you your fresh basil. One of my favorite parts of summer other than barefeet is the copious amount of fresh basil right outside my doorstep. I can "smell" it through your pictures....AAhhhh!
