Homemade Cards.

I have some assistance in our card making.  Sadly some have more care taken with them than others.  Needless to say, no Christmas card has been posted yet.

Origami Paper.

I love Japanese origami paper.
As I am not a patient nor a precise folder, I like to embellish my cards with origami paper.

William Morris.

I had forgotten that I wanted to talk about this.....but my few days away with a friend whose eye for lovely things makes her home a joy; reminded me of William Morris.

Husband E's Aunt who died in July, introduced me to William Morris. His designs are so beautiful. We found some gift wrap and made bookmarks for our children and their cousins as Christmas gifts.

Kanji in Card Making.

Mrs N and Fiona gathered here on Monday night to make cards for our school fete. We used Stampin' Up stamps. I like to make cards that require minimal effort, sorry, and so I really enjoyed these stamps that gave maximum effect. I also love the Kanji as I studied Japanese through high school and university.

We also had spinach dip, cheese and crackers and a delicious rich chocolate cake that Mrs N brought.

We are in holiday mode. All woke at 9:30am (except poor husband E who is at work). The cat is enjoying all the company and now breakfast at 11:30am. Beds are made, chores are waiting. the children have eaten! I have posted a photo of myself, inspired by A Woman of Notes. I have a few family members from overseas who look at this blog, so thought I would say "Hello" in person.

Before the 24th I need to draw four more items for cards. In husband E's family, when children start high school, we do not buy gifts for Christmas. Instead we make a special card with encouraging messages and hand it to them on Christmas Day. E's sisters write limmericks or poems or other ideas that inspire. Every year I draw something small......I have done one already.....

Birthday Season.

We have two children's birthdays in June and the older two are in November and December.

9 year old boy is going indoor rock/wall climbing and the invitations are sent by the centre, with release forms, information for safety etc.

6 year old daughter's invitations were made by me yesterday. At first the heat of the day and grumpiness meant that she was not very happy with the design, but, this morning, she awoke on the correct side of the bed and was pleased with them. One or two suggestions were taken on board and now they are ready to be distributed tomorrow.
