New Garage.
"Hazel", the Vintage car; has made her move from her garage of many years to ours. It is a privilege to have her here as she passes from the care of husband E's father to husband E.

A Day Trip to the Mountains.
A lovely day trip to the mountains with our dear friends the P family. The Autumn leaves were breathtaking at Mt Wilson. We took two modern cars and the Vintage car.
We enjoyed a lovely morning tea in a clearing. The weather had been lovely, the second half of the day was wet and cold. We still managed to return home with apple pie and cloudy apple juice from Bell.

Hill End.
We enjoyed a day trip to Hill End. It was quite the picture to see Vintage cars enjoying the hilly little road. Hill End itself was quaint and filled with history. Our lunch venue was in the General Store, seated out the back in the field with old cushions, odd chairs and nice , soft grass. Can you see the table down the slope, in the field?

Thinking of Summer....
Just like Cathy, I too have an older style picnic set. Unlike Cathy though, this picnic set does not get much use. I bought it before we had children from a little junk shop, thinking that we would use it for vintage car outings. We have used it, and hopefully will again in the future.
6 year old daughter wanted to make frozen fruit yesterday so we did. We cut strawberries and grapes and then covered them with water. Fruit juice could have been nice too. We put them in the freezer and will enjoy them this afternoon. It is hotter today. 4 year old daughter starts swimming lessons today, she will join her big sister in the pool.

Simply Saturday.
Well we are slightly bleary eyed, 9 year old son has gone off to soccer and then E will register the vintage car. I might try this recipe for tomato soup cake from The Sparrow's Nest. Also, meat pies for dinner that both the Groovy Aunt and the Mad Aunt (her own term for herself) cook. The sun is shining, the air is crisp and coffee will be brewing soon.
Meat Pie.
Line a pie dish with shortcrust pastry.
Place a layer of diced lamb or beef, then a layer of sliced onion, and chopped Camembert or Brie cheese. Sprinkle some corn flour and rosemary. Repeat the layers. Top with shortcrust pastry.
Brush with some milk and then bake for at least an hour at 180 degrees.

Simply Saturday

Today has started later, husband E is out cycling in the cold and then later in the day he has to work on the vintage car to get it ready for this year's registration. E and his Dad restored the car about fifteen years ago for a sister's wedding. The last time we went out in it, it had engine troubles....
We will head to a soccer game this morning which should be a mud bath after this week's rain.I hope to make a card today and write invitations to our neighbours for an afternoon tea next weekend to meet and welcome a new neighbour who has been here a few months now!!
Today's dinner will be bolognaise.
