High Time for High Tea.

I am so excited. I love Devonshire teas, but only good scones that don't taste of dishwashing detergent.

It was high time that I made my own and I did:

Scones.
4 cups Self Raising Flour
1/2 t salt
300mL cream
375mL lemonade.

Mix dry then wet ingredients and pat into a flat dough onto a floured surface.
I put flour on my hands and on the mouth of the jar. Cut circles out with a jar. Gather the remaining dough and pat flat again, cut out as many as you can without handling the dough too much.
Bake in preheated oven at 220 degrees centigrade. Bake for 10mins and serve with clotted cream and jam.

Next time I will use a jar with a bigger mouth so that we have bigger scones!

This recipe came from a school newsletter.

I simply love the sound of the unusual ingredients in these (cream, lemonade) & will put this on my 'must try' list for sometime in the future - they look delicious !

.....a friend told me that UHT (long life cream) could work as well which would be good for you Lynda as your corner shop is a long, long, long way away!

I would have loved to have read the details of such a tea.
